  • Basic Principles for Teaching With Technology Subcommittee
    • Proposal for Basic Principles List
      • Update and revisions on proposal
      • Working to connect list with technology already available on campus
      • Discussion of who would take this process over (build, maintain site)
      • Consideration of what technologies UIC has for faculty that have been proven to help engage students
    • Discussion of Proposal
      • Putting this list in a centralized, accessible place would be ideal
      • ITL (Information Technology Lab) were brought up as possible administrators
      • Discussion of spreadsheet with available resources for more information
      • Criticism of ‘clickers’ not empowering students or facilitating learning
    • ITGC Website Considerations
      • Idea was brought up to use ITGC website for these purposes
      • Needs blessing of ITGC
      • Resolution to ask ITGC if they approve of the developing website for campus, which would be grounded in the eight principles for teaching with technology
      • Consideration of changing the proposal from focusing on the eight principles exclusively to endorsing the plan to develop a website through this partnership that would be grounded in the principles
      • Plan is to develop an outline of the site, create a report
  • Personal Computing Devices Subcommittee
    • SRS (Student Response System) Pilot Proposal
      • Idea is to develop a proposal to vet a web-based student response system
      • ACCC would select a product, committee would fund a pilot
      • Discussion of pros and cons of making this service web-based
    • Update on SRS
      • ITL will try and vet some of the products that are available now
      • Consideration of using one of the colleges that already has a one-to-one mobile device program, pilot that for two semesters beginning in Fall 2015
    • Mobile Learning Pilot Proposal
      • Ask for funds in order to award one grant to pilot a mobile learning initiative
      • Will be discussed more at the next meeting
  • Instructional Technology Services and Support Subcommittee
    • Proposal on Requesting Technology for Instruction
      • Would develop a process involving forms, vetting, etc. that the campus would use for submitting requests for new technology for instruction
      • Would be an orderly process used to decide prioritization
      • Idea is to ask to do this without asking for funding
      • Proposal needs to be sent in by December
