    • Overview of Subcommittee Proposal
      • Discussion of the research conducted in order to create a list of basic principles for teaching with technology
      • Presentation of the Appendix document
      • Examination of a list of principles and a few examples
      • Call for feedback and possibly a review from a larger body
    • Discussion
      • Focus on how IT and the ITGC can support subcommittee
      • Concern on how technology would support these principles
      • Consideration of how to propose this document with faculty
      • Consideration of creating a forum section for community to share ideas online
      • Discussion of estimated time and cost associated with creating such a website
      • Discussion of what technologies UIC has, and what is needed
  • E-0004 Personal Computing Devices
    • Overview of “Pilot Software”
      • Subcommittee hoping to get funding for pilot software
      • College would have to have a “one to one” program to do this, i.e. each student would be required to have a device in the classroom
      • This would allow students to respond to instructors using any device
      • Plan is to narrow down different systems to one single software
      • Discussion of wireless capabilities
      • Discussion of how to offer/approach with faculty and students
    • Overview of “Pilot of Mobile Learning Initiative”
      • Discussion of similar initiatives/research at UIC and other institutions
      • Goal is to encourage “any time/any place learning” and enable faculty to teach in new, innovative ways
      • Consideration of best ways to get faculty input on addressing specific issues
      • Concerns of overlapping with current grant and award programs
    • Overview of “Perform Needs Assessment of Content Management System (CMS)”
      • Idea is to create a central platform to access all of the available resources at UIC
      • This would make things easier for students
      • Discussion of existing products, what they do, possible implementation plans
      • Discussion on importance of customization to specific colleges/departments
      • Discussion of how to clarify proposal, creating task force to focus on the issue

    • Committee will revisit at next meeting in September
      • Next few months will be used to get proposals in final form to send up to ITGC
      • Tie up loose ends by October, submit proposals to Council in November
